Why oh Why does it take so long

I have sold my house and am renting, rather expensively, from my buyer. Three weeks ago I found a small property with no chain which I can just about afford to buy outright. I had hoped that as there was just me in the chain, it would be possible to move really quickly but now my solicitor tells me that it might be possible to complete some time during August. I am absolutely gutted as this now means a new contract on the 21st July and I am practically packed up. Sorry, just needed to moan!

Commiserations from somebody who may well have to go into rented if she doesn't find a suitable property to purchase soon.

Had a near asking price offer accepted on a property I liked the other day, having found a buyer for mine almost 8weeks ago. Today I heard that the owner of house I wanted no longer wants to sell. Looks more & more although I may end up having to find something to rent before I manage to secure a suitable new home.

If it's just for a week or two could you not find someone willing to put you up & put your stuff in storage or in a friend or relatives garage rather than sign up for a new contract? Or would it not be feasible for the solicitors to work their socks off & do their best to try to get completion by July 21st for you?

Everytime I move I say never again, but do I listen to myself? Do I heck. :o
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Oh dear, I am so sorry your house fell through, it's the absolute pits and I agree, not sure why we put ourselves through it. Do hope you find something soon. I have never previously rented and didn't realise quite how costly it was.

I did think about putting my "stuff" into storage and crashing with my sister but it looks as though all the legal work is going to take another six weeks or so (although I really don't understand why) and I also have two dogs who would have to be kennelled (sister not keen on dogs) and unfortunately this is rather an expense in itself. Cannot find anybody else willing to take me and the dogs!! The solicitor is just insistent that the work cannot be done any quicker.

Good luck to your finding that perfect property.

similar situation but i want it to last as long as possible, we have sold our house to an old couple who have sold theres to a first time buyer.

the house we want to buy is a private sale and he wants to buy some land but unfortunately the bungalow on that land is on a 6 month lease so he cant do anything until september time really, i cant find a short term rental agreement for 3 months or so. annoying i really want my buyer to rent somewhere so i can get on moving into his house and obviously the sale can proceed on mine. i've been really lucky only moved three times before and they all went just as should, however this one is becoming a move from hell, its definately a learning curve, however i too don't want to do it anymore after this one.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
