I agree with Molerat - changing your boiler unless it's terminally dead is not a good way to save money - It will cost you between £1-2k and might save you £100-150 a year, taking 10-15 years years to get your money back.
Insulation and upgraded heating controls are much more cost effective. Look at getting a programmable thermostat and TRVs if you haven't got them already (you might get some VAT relief on upgrading your controls if you get someone in to do it). It's really easy to fit a wireless programmable stat - any competent DIYer can do it. Likewise fitting TRVs isn't difficult.
It's also important to keep reading your meters. Once you start measuring your consumption you can take charge and control of what you are using.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
the upgrade will be more on the lines of installing thermostats etc, we are going to look into exactly what we would need to get this done, it is certainly worth getting it done in time for next winter.
