Working Tax Credit - Compliance Department

Working Tax Credit department received mine and my husbands new joint claim on 31st January and we still haven't heard anything back.
I have been calling and nobody is giving me any advice, only that our claim has been passed on to the compliance department who will contact me if they need any information. Apparently WTC department have emailed the compliance department to see why it's taking so long but they haven't received a reply.
My husband is originally from Turkey - he is self employed. Do you think this could be the reason it's taking so long?
Any information or advice would be very much appreciated.
