PPI with Kensington query

Options
I'm hoping someone may be able to tell me if I am able to claim PPI and if so how is the best way to go about it
We had a mortgage from roughly 1998 to end of 2003 with Kensington mortgage company but I canot find any of the records pertaining to it. Is it worth us making a claim without records? If it is, is it best to go through a company? I've been looking at PPI companies but I don't know which are the best to use.
The mortgage was only a small amount (approx 39,000) and was paid off in full November 2003.
We had kinda assumed that it wasn't worth us bothering with a claim as we assume they'll say it's been too long and they have no records.
Can anyone advise please.

Seeing as Kensington didnt sell PPI, why would you want to complain?
If it is, is it best to go through a company

    What will that achieve?

  • So we wouldn't have paid any kind of PPI or accident insurance on the mortgage with Kensington?
My husband was self employed so I assumed that we would have had to have some kind of cover on the mortgage but if they didn't sell that then that's all cool, I guess we didn't pay any :rotfl:

    accident insurance on the mortgage
Even if you have Accident Insurance, on what basis would you complain that this was somehow mis-sold? You can't complain about insurance simply because you have it-you must have a valid complaint.

Kensington generally sold through brokers - so you would need to complain to the broker, not the lender.

However, you have not given any reason why the policy was unsuitable for you.
  • IF we paid PPI on any mortgage, loan or credit card then I can guarantee it would have been missold because a) given the option or choice we never opt into those things and b) the very fact that we don't know if we paid it suggests it was missold - if we wanted it we would have known we had it.

    You cannot guarantee that.
he very fact that we don't know if we paid it suggests it was missold -

No it doesnt. It could be that you forgot. Or it could be that you are jumping on a bandwagon.

Evidence is important. It is not everything but someone who doesnt know you cannot accept what you say unless there is enough evidence to suggest what you are saying is the truth.
