O/S Daily Tuesday 25th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Tired again this morning, I need some serious sleep and to get rid of this eye infection.

Pork mince Thai style for dinner with stir fried bean sprouts and cabbage. Managed to lose 1.2kg last week so really must be good and stick to low carb.

Need to run but will try and catch up later.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, dull and cloudy, doesn’t look as cold as yesterday though. Will put washing on line in a mo.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was pork chops, mash, veg and gravy. There was a small amount of choc brownie left – so I suggested heating it up a bit and then having it with ice cream – all the menfolk enjoyed – I did have some too – it was ok, but way too sweet for me and I felt a bit yukky all evening afterwards as I just don’t eat that kind of food anymore – I now remember why! Dinner tonight will be fish, chips and beans for the menfolk and I will be having fish, jacket potato and veg. Hairdresser is coming tonight so dinner will be a bit later than normal.

Work yesterday wasn’t as busy as were expecting – but no 2 days are the same at the moment – but the local housing association gives it’s tenants 2 rent free weeks at Easter and at Xmas each year (not really free they just divide the rent by 48 weeks instead of 52!) It all started years ago when it was done to coincide with the start of the financial year to lift the pressure off the accounts depts etc and also when the offices would be closed for the Xmas/New Year holidays.

Still finding the keeping busy is helping keeping the CBA mood at bay – just trying to potter along and not put too much pressure on myself.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,
Slept pretty well last night, woke a few times but went back again.

Raining here, so I'm staying in. DD and SIL came over last night for dinner. Baby was shouting all the time at the table for morw food!:rotfl: He is such a sweetie. DGD ate all hers too. She's learning to use a knife now as well as a fork so she can have school dinner in September!

Sorted out my Xmas decs yesterday:rotfl: Decided that I don't want the red and gold lot, just the purple and silver ones so put them on our local freegle page on Facebook. Gone in 1 minute! Lady picking them up today.

((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) for sickly people (not me thank goodness!:T)

    Have a great day.

    Hello everyone

Had a decent night's sleep for the first time in months, actually feel like I can face the day today.

Friend is coming round to discuss a couple of hours a week work at 10, so need to get my bum in gear.

Dinner will be stir fry with left over bits and bats from the freezer (trying to empty it for the annual defrost in june, using up odds and ends), and OH will have something simple.

    Morning all,

Hope your all ok, I feel for those not sleeping, it's a terrible thing. I'm better than I was but would love to sleep right through from say 11 until 6:eek:that would be fantastic.
Yesterday managed to get some library books, United v City tonight so can I have a read whilst the men watch football.
My hair is at that horrible in between stage but fancy it a bit longer so I'm persevering, I watched lots of you tube clips yesterday looking for styling inspiration. Some of those women are absolutely amazing with their hair.
Today I have a blood test at lunch, it's by Asda and a few local charity shops so I shall have a little potter round first, might as well get some fun out of it.
I'm very pleased with my first week healthy eating, I definitely feel thinner, fingers crossed for the scales.
Easy tea of steak and salad tonight.

Have a good day all x

    Morning all,

Julie, I understand where your coming from when you say your hair is in the in between stage. I'm struggling with mine too. I still cant get used to the colour and with all the colour removers in the world I don't think I am going to get it back to the colour I was originally. I think its just going to have to grow out. I am also trying to grow it however, the one side is growing faster than the other. Theres a good inch and a half difference between the one side to the other. I cant keep chopping at the back as i'll end up with hair shorter than my sons (and I don't like short hair on me).

Millie dog didn't wake me in the night which was a blessing.... but my bladder did. I was awake when hubby went to work this morning and I couldn't sleep as I was cold. I'm still cold as the heating has only just come on.

Not got much to do in the house today as I did most of it yesterday. Ive got some paperwork I need to catch up on and I want to check Millie dogs back paws. Her nails grow so quick. I managed to do her front nails on Friday but she ran off before I could check the back. Not much else to do other than the usual vacuuming throughout and kitchen floor (I do like a nice floor:D). I think I am going to treat myself to a vacuum to keep upstairs. Dragging the one ive got up and down the stairs isn't doing me or it a lot of good.

Pork for tea tonight. Usual mash for hubby and something green to keep us healthy. Might push the boat out and throw carrots at it too.:rotfl:

    Onwards and forwards,
    Have a great day all.

De-lurking to say that we are back from holiday and I am still having to pinch myself how wonderful it was. DH ha really been through it the last two years and it is wonderful to see how healthy (and tanned) he looks now.

I had my rheumy check up yesterday: I'm now on annual appointments. Yay!

I no longer qualify for the Blue Badge, BUT I am still entitled to the disabled bus pass. I'm not complaining as it means free bus travel on my good days. When we go shopping DH drops me by the door and then parks to 'save me the steps'.

I'm trying to do a major declutter in the house as 4 bedrooms is just too much for us. The plan is to move somewhere smaller when DH retires (almost 3 years away) but to shift the 'stuff' as soon as we can -my quiet aim is to empty the attic room of all bar the bed and bookcases by the autumn.

Off to list my successes on the Decluttering thread.

    Hugs all around x
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
