Are you an intranet developer for a company ? what types of meetings do you have ?


When working for a job/employment based on intranet development, and internal web structures of companys intranets, then the job will involve working on a computer, and developing the intranet as part of the team.


(lets assume that the company is huge)

but in this career, what about meetings, and meeting people to present ?

What types of *meetings with groups* would typically be done in intranet developer jobs?

I know this can have many answers, but just want a general idea.

Eg, "you could be required to meet once a week with 3 others, to discuss XYZ"

what types of meetings, could be associated with somebody who does an intranet developing job, within their company / group ?

One type of our meetings are that they happen with clients who are linked to the company.

Regardless of what you are developing surely the same types of meetings will be held? And the types of meetings will depend quite a bit on the development methodology being used etc. For example if you are using scrum then you will have (at least) your daily stand ups, your planning meetings and your retrospectives.

What is it you actually want to know?

An "intranet developer" is a pretty vague title.

Essentially, you go to as many meetings as your manager tells you to, and do as many presentation as you are told to. 95% of them will be a waste of your time but it's not up to you.

I imagine the OP might be looking for guidance as to how the role might fit around some kind of social anxiety?

A good employer will hopefully try to accomodate any form of disability in their workplace. Especially if you bring rare skills to them.

In practice, Intranet for many companies is the less glamourous end of web development. There may be smallish projects going on (either Intranet developments where you will be working for end-users on their requirements and reporting issues and progress back to them, or projects where someone else's development requires integration into the Intranet).

A lot does depend on the technology as well as the size and type of company and Intranet. In some organisation the "Intranet person" may hold governance over branding and graphic design on the Intranet, for example. In other places, this will be the responsibility of the Comms or Marketing people.
