Soaking plastic handled stainless steel cutlery

Does anyone know if it's safe to soak stainless steel cutlery with plastic handles in a vinegar/water solution for about 10 hours?

The kind where the plastic handle segments is bolted onto the stainless steel?

I don't mind if the handles get discoloured a bit, but don't want to damage them, and if I'm planning on saving water and do them in a mug I'd prefer not to have a waterline on them :)

Thanks :)

Why do you need to soak them?

My cutlery has wooden handles but if i ever leave anything soaking i stand them up in a cup with just the steel in the water.

I want to make sure there's no crud in the corners where the steel joins the plastic handle so that would mean some of the plastic would need to be in the vinegar too.
