Hi. I received a parking ticket from Capital 2 Coast Security Limited on approx a year ago. I subsequently received a fine which after seeking advice from the internet I ignored. I have now received (approx 4 months later) a 'letter of demand' from solicitor BPCollins giving me 7 days to pay as below. Could anyone advise on the next step I should take? Also to mention this vehicle as since been written off and scrapped

Dear sir/madam
Our client - Capital 2 Coast Security Limited
outstanding amount - £160
Vehicle reg - xxxxxx
Fixed charge notice - xxxxx
Fixed charge date - 28/03/13
Site - xxxx
We act for capital 2 coast security limited t/a capital 2 coast parking management
You are the registered keeper of the above named vehicle and received a fixed charge notice from our client as detailed above. If you have any queries regarding the FCN please email us at parkingcharge@bpcollins.co.uk
Due to a breach of the terms and conditions of parking the vehicle on the site the sum of £160 is due and owing.
As the fixed charge has not been paid and you have not provided, within time, the name and current address of the driver of the vehicle the provisions of clause 4 of schedule 4 and section 56 of the protection of freedoms act 2012 make you as the registered keeper of the vehicle liable to pay the debt.
Payment of the debt must now be paid to us within 7 days of the date of this letter. Payment maybe made by one of the methods listed overleaf.
In order for the debt to be satisfied, payment should only be made directly to this firm and not to our client. You must ensure the above payment reference is quoted when making payment of the debt. Failure to do this May result in your payment being misallocated. The debt will not be discharged until until the payment has been allocated correctly.
In the event that payment of the debt is not paid on time,we will advise our client to issue court proceedings against you. You should note that free, independent legal advice and assistance can be obtained from organisations included those listed overleaf
Yours faithfully
BPCollins LLP
Thanks in advance

What did you find when you searched the forum for 'BP Collins' {two words when you search} which has been mentioned before? And also, before stating the obvious we must assume you've read the sticky thread 'Private parking ticket, old or new? NEWBIES please read these FAQs first!' ...because in that thread I already cover this stage 'if too late to appeal' and 'debt collectors'. So I would hope you've picked up some advice here already before posting.

How can the fixed charge date be 'March 2014' for an old ticket? Are there two?

Nope you've posted fine, a new thread is fine but you do need to read the info already here first or we double up with advice. It's such a busy forum we can't keep up unless we direct people to read the stickies first.

  • Hi again , I have looked through post/stickys and can't seem to see anything that relates to me, as I think I'm passed the appeal stage. As the ticket was issued in March last year I took advice current at that time and ignored. I really don't know what to do next. Please can someone help?

its clear to me you did not do what was suggested in post #2

namely, using the forum search tool and the search words bp collins
What did you find when you searched the forum for 'BP Collins' {two words when you search} which has been mentioned before?
I did this and came up with a few threads including this one

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4793562

    follow that advice

and this in post #18 https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4896495

So when you read the NEWBIEs sticky what wasn't relevant about the options I set out 'if you think you are too late to appeal' and the whole POST on debt collector stage (post #4 of the same sticky)? Were you skim reading it or something and just stopped when you saw the first info about appealing even though I had told you already that the sticky has the info you need?! Bottom line - you missed the appeal chance and are in the same situation as people have been for years in now choosing to ignore or respond to these letters.

And what did your search of the keywords 'BP Collins' {two words} show you, from reading all the other threads like yours? Redx searched (even though this is your case to search for, really) found a couple of results in seconds but...to be fair to yourself in making this forum work well for you...what's the point of waiting for others to provide a couple of links, when you can do the search yourself and read loads of results?

There's a very good 'search this forum' heading next to 'forum tools' above the NEWBIES sticky thread on page one of this very parking board.
