BT - The worst company ever?

  • You want to try having them for your companies broadband lines. Lol. bt departments simply don't talk to each other. Youll never speak to the same person twice. Company changed names nearly 10 years ago and they can't update their records. 8 weeks plus to get a simple broadband line in. Or 6 days with virgins option. Guess where we went lol? Now all new lines will go to virgin where possible.

What do refer to bt as Bl33ding Terrible.

Hope it eventually works out for you.

    Hi all, again!

Just to put this into context - I still have no phone line!

Its now been 8 weeks since I should have been installed with a phone line and 13 weeks since I purchased and ordered the service from BT.

I now feel like I have been stolen from, as Ipaid my line retanl in full for a whole year.

They have told me that external work is being done and I should be live by the end of May. This will be 16 weeks after i ordered and 13 weeks after I shopuld have been installed!

They are saying I should get compensation, I have had 3 months without service, plus my mobile phone bills have gone through the roof due to having to chase BT.

How do BT get away with this? What sort of compensation should I get?

I don't understand. What makes 'British' Telecom any more British than Sky, EE, Plusnet or any other telcom company that pays corporation taxes and national insurance in the UK and employs British staff?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

.............might just be worth mentioning the Small Claims Court to them - I really would be tempted to go that way after reading your story.................. I have used this twice - really gets results !!!

    I can't believe you're still waiting!

You could go to the ombudsman or just file a claim at the small claims court. I hear a lot of cases can be dealt with online.

When I had my line installed I had numerous emails from them reminding me of the day and they didn't turn up. Then tried to claim they booked a later date- even though I had emails saying otherwise!
I can't wait till my contract is over.

I have requested the details to contact the ombudsman but suprise suprise they didnt send it!

I heard from BT today and they told me they still have no update of when the work will definitely be done!

I have no choice but to wait because imn this far down the line with BT, plus I paid line rental upfront for a whole year back in Feb.

    What can I do!?
  • BT told me traffic lights and road works were required to install my phone line, yesterday they told me they would be done that evening.

I went to investigate, suprise suprise there was noone doing any work and this was another lie from BT!

I have contatced them again in an attempt to find out why they lied to me and they have said they are having to contact the engineers about it to find out.

More lies from BT!!!! Surely, the Ombudsman must be able to do something to help!
  • So, BT carried out some work and told me last week that everything will be done by 23rd May.

    Guess what, they lied!

They told me traffic management approval held the work up, but the work never required traffic management.

They didnt complete the work in the allocated time.

Now im being told I need to wait until the 4th June for an update!

Do I have any power to go to a small claims court about this, its an absolute disgrace??

    Please someone advise me...
