7 month old baby in hospital - gift ideas for mum

A very good friend of mine is in hospital with her 7 month old baby, who has broken her arm :( They are likely to be in for a few nights. We are not local so can't go and visit. I really want to send a parcel to my friend, but not sure what things might be useful, and wondered if anybody had been in hospital with a baby for any length of time and could suggest things they'd liked to have had.

I was thinking of things like a couple of magazines, snacks, mini toiletries. Any suggestions gratefully received, thank you! :)

Snacks and mags can be bought in the hospital shop , but would still be nice.
When I was there under similar circumstances, I got hot a nd sticky, so wet wipes and a body spray would have been welcome. I had no spare clothes with me (daughter in hosp suddenly, oh at home with a broken leg also) so fresh undies would have been good. I can still recall how cheesy mu tights were after sitting bedside for only one night!

My son was in hospital with pneumonia last month and was in for 4 days/nights. I can tell you from experience that I would really have appreciated some food!!! Not snacks, things like ready meals.

Unless the parent is pregnant/breastfeeding the ward don't feed them and in those 4 days I easily spent £80 on shop/cafe bought drinks, sandwiches, crisps, bisuits etc :eek::eek: On the last full day there my best friend bought me a sausage and mash ready meal and I cannot tell you how good it tasted to have something hot!!!

NB: Just seen you can't visit! Perhaps get a tesco online order to her :rotfl:

A text or phone call (although I'm sure you already have!)! When we were in with our little one it was a v lonely experience & we didn't hear much from friends... Think they were bothered about disturbing us but it wouldn't have!

Definitely snacks... Even bf a 4 day old, I was only offered breakfast.
