FireWyrm - I hope you do not mind but I downloaded the spreadsheet you shared- I have 0pen 0ffice and it works perfectly! I just wanted to say Thank You! I have always muddled through with my own higgeldy piggeldy spreadsheets- and love anything visual- and your spreadsheet makes everything so much more transparent and the ability to money forecast much further in advance than I have previously been able to do. So Thank you once again!!:coffee:

OK, I've been bored all afternoon, so I thought I would have a bash. You can download a budget xls spreadsheet from here (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/58m07i0jklqny0e/n3c1E0QUVw)
Note, this is purely for budgeting and imitates what YNAB does (after a fashion) but isnt a full replacement for that. Basically, if you fill in the categories it will autocalculate across the year for you. You can add new categories by simply highlighting a row and then right-click and insert. All the formulas will automatically adjust across the board for you.
Let me know what you think and if you want any changes or have any suggestions to make it better.
A thanks from me too. I will be filling this in on Friday when I get paid and am doing my bills. Will be really, really useful. Thanks.:TPAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.

Hi Firewyrm.
It's brilliant the way it is.
Just one thing - could you put a constant addition to my income for me of maybe £2000 per month? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously - this is excellent. :TDebt at LBM £60k (July 09) Jan14 £5k Feb14 £4615

I wish it worked like that Hettiecaro
Glad you appreciate it. If you do happen to have any ideas about improvements you want, then please do PM and I'll update with the changes and repost it for you.
If you want to add more categories, then just highlight a line and 'insert' row. The formulas are set up with ranges, so Excel should just add it to the range for you. I've put a few suggested ones in already to get you started.
Just a note, this kind of system works best with piggy-banking which means many different account into which goes the 'rainy-day' funds listed in the spreadsheet. If you do this, you'll almost never be suprised by a bill again and if you do, you'll have pots of money available to shuffle around and deal with it. I use Natwest and RBS but I know TSB has the same principle of a single current account with many 'pots' hanging from it which you can call anything you like. I have SOs which go on the 1st of the month to each of mine and therefore, when I need glasses for instance, there is money to pay for it. I strongly suggest that you consider separating your bills account from your running accounts. At the very least, you should consider having a current account used solely for food and another for petrol as well as the main 'bills' account.
When 2015 comes around, just copy the 2014 spreadsheet over, clear the 'white' cells and it should all reset to zero. If you have trouble, PM me and I'll post a clean copy for you.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
