How to get furniture delivered from ebay pls?

Hi all

I'm about to bid on a bedroom suite from ebay, however its 74 miles away from me and i've no way of picking it up.

Can anyone recommend a courier from ebay, i've had a look but there's so many! What kind of price can I expect to pay please?

Sorry for all the questions but i've bought nothing bigger than a book before!

Thank you

    hi

i assume all the items are flat packed , you need the size and weight of each parcel
the company i use on ebay go up to 31.5kgs in weight which is about 4stone 9 per item and depending on the size its either £7.99 or £14.99 .

i have used them hundreds of times andf never had any problems ....

    Thank you :-)

No its not flat packed so its a full bedroom suite.... doesnt look like its going to be cheap then!

I'm sure the bed will be un-assembled, but the wardrobe, chest of drawers etc will have to stay whole.

I would imagine then you are looking at furniture removal companies.

Hmm I expect I can probably wait until something nearer me comes up then. Sometimes bargains dont always turn out to be.... bargains

    Thanks all

You need a removal company, not a courier.

Either that or hire a luton van with a taillift and fetch it yourselves one weekend.

A lot of people on Ebay recommend Abbey Antiques, who charge £60 for 1 item (£40 for each extra item):

You'll need help with the lifting at both ends & you will also need to pay without having seen the furniture so best to make sure the seller is honest about it's condition!
  • If you can drive (or can get a relative or friend who drives to volunteer), I think your cheapest option would be self-drive van hire. You can probably find a suitable firm in your local Yellow Pages. If you can't drive or borrow a driver then furniture removal will be costly.

Got to agree ...with some of the above you need to hire a van. Some companies offer 2 or 4 hour hires which might make it more worthwhile.

Please decide how you are going to collect before bidding.

    Hi there all.

Yes thats good advice, I wouldnt bid as its unfair to the seller to be waiting for me to sort myself out.

From the comments on here it seems I will not bother on this occasion and wait for something a bit closer to home. I can drive so i'll wait until my hubby has a weekend off and we'll pick it up ourselves.

Why is it that everything I want is miles away
