FSCS help

Options
good morning

i took out a loan with the dreaded welcome in 2006 and i was urged to take out to PPI to aid my application.
I lost my job and rang welcome to make a claim on the PPI but was told i was ineligible.
I was given no policy number for the insurer and wasnt even sure who the insurer was. This sent me into arrears and i ended up paying much more than i had initially agreed.
i have attempted to claim mis-selling of the PPI but the FSCS have told me that they are rejecting my claim and i am to go to the Direct Group who own the insurers (still not sure who this is)
has anybody else been left in this situation?
I am more irked now that i was advised to take it to aid my application and was there for mis-sold it and feel i have hit a dead end.

I'm sure you were grateful really, when they agreed to loan you the money you asked them for.

Presumably you've been rejected because you should have made a claim under your policy for sickness or redundancy, which is why you're being told to go to Direct Group as they would deal with any claim for redundancy etc.

Go to Direct Group, make your claim for your sickness or redundancy (whichever it was). If they won't accept the claim, go back to FSCS with the rejection letter from Direct Group and they will review your mis-sale complaint.

I'm sure FSCS explained all this in your letter and would have been happy to clarify, had you called them.

Do the above, and you will not have hit a dead end.
  • of course i was glad of the help at the time but i was not prepared for how they were to operate, but yes they did advise this but also said that their decision was final. I will carry on as you and they advise and see where it takes me.
i appreciate the response so thank you
