Maintenance Grant - assets

Can I ask please if the Student Maintenance Grant is linked in anyway to assets as well as income.

My daughters grandparents are considering giving her a large amount of money for her 18th Birthday which she may invest in a property.

Our threshold is under 25k a year so she would get a maintenance grant.

She would be looking to stay at home in the meantime but may at a later date move into this house.

Also if she was to get an income from this house would this affect her grant?

She would need to declare any of the rental income in Section 8 of the application form. Capital expenditure cannot be offset, and the income from that would potentially reduce grant entitlement.
