Since yesterday, as soon as my laptop boots up to the home page, a whole load of ads fill the page and if I try to get onto any of my normal websites such as facebook, mse, twitter these ads just pop up all over the place and I spend all my time just trying to close them down only for them to pop up again. I always have my pop up blocker on and the settings have not been changed at all. I have tried changing browser but it doesnt make any difference at all. It is driving me mad. I have run full scan on Ad aware free version and Avast anti virus, Avast found some infected files which from my limited knowledge looked like cookie files. Please can someone help?

if it just started, system restore to before it did
disable addons in all your browsers
scan with malwarebytes
do a boot time scan with avast
clear temp files with ccleaner
post a hijackthis log
all software mentioned is available from filehippo.com
cookies aren't viruses, and avast doesn't look for cookies, what it found may be a clue, if indeed it was avast and not adaware.!!

See here for system restore.http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/
This can be reversed if it doesn't cure the problem.
In the meantime download and run Malwarebytes. https://www.malwarebytes.org/Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
