Another Marks and Spencer rant

I popped into our local M&S this morning and bought a pretty dress and a cardi to go with it. I am being taken out for meals twice this week and thought they would be ideal.

Anyway, got them home, tried them on and they looked fine. I happened to go on the website to see what other colours they might come in only to see that there is 20% off some women's clothing, including these. Only online, apparently, or if you order whilst in the store.

So, of course they are going back and I have now ordered for store pick up which will, thankfully be in plenty time for when I need them. But using the new site just reminds me how frustrating it is, so difficult to see the whole screen and I kept losing things.

Two rants in one, the first for why, when you have taken the time to visit the store, do you have to pay more than you do if you order? And, once again, they really do have to do something about that website!!

  • Because most shops and internet sites run independently from each other so one may have a promotion while the other may not and not to forget stores have more overheads than online. You where happy with the price you originally paid for the items in store and no one forced you to buy at that time.

This is true but I still find it frustrating as I did not know they were run independently. I vaguely remember getting an email about a sale so assumed these were just not included in the sale when I saw them in store.

I would not be normal not to be agitated at having paid more than I needed to even if I was happy at the time. Thus my rant.

I have time on my hands and can rectify the situation but still seems daft to me.

there's your mistake, never assume - ask /check

I am good at assuming, just as I assumed that this was the right place to vent my feelings. It seems not, well, not in the eyes of some anyway.
