Help! Home Insurance - drains damaged by tree roots

Please help, I have blocked drains, it seems that the cause is damage from tree roots. I'm insured with co-operative and it includes accidental cover. Can I claim?

Generally, yes - it will be covered under the accidental damage to underground services section, providing the damage is shown to be tree roots when they do a CCTV survey.0

That's reassuring! do you have any experience of liability for the CCTV survey, either if it is found to be tree roots or not.0

Some insurers will fund investigation costs themselves (and it's generally what I'd expect), however I am aware of some who will charge you for the unblocking (required for the CCTV survey) if it is found to not be tree roots. The only way you can know for sure is to speak to CIS.0
