Carpets/wooden/Lino

I've had beige carpet in my flat for 4 1/2 years now and well it's pretty much had it!
I've got one daughter, prone to knocking drinks over and three cats who scratch a bit, occasionally throw up and leave fur everywhere!
So as soon as I am able I'm going to replace the carpet, but what to go for?
It needs to be as cheap as possible and being in a top floor flat officially wooden flooring is not allowed although I know many do.
I was thinking Lino with rugs where needed, at least they could be washed or replaced if they get ruined.
Any recommendations at all?
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly :D

I would go for the vinyl that looks like wooden flooring, cheap I had it in DD room til she was old enought for carpet. Lasted years still perfect when took up.

  • Either cushionfloor, or polypropylene carpet which can be bleached back if stained (from £8.00 psm) - but something wipeable is probably best. You can get offcuts/ends of rolls quite cheaply.

How on earth do your three cats get in and out when you live in a top floor flat?
