Cheap Family Recipes - Meal Plan Website

I know that cheap-family-recipes.org.uk was made by members of this forum and I was just wondering if anyone uses the meal plans from it or has in the past? How did you find it? We're giving it a go this month, got my shopping today and made calzone for dinner, although I just threw it together as usual with my wholegrain base instead of following the exact recipe. We're using the veggie plan.

  • I've been using the plan for 5 days now and am quite enjoying the recipes so far, although the snacks and breakfasts aren't really our cup of tea.
  • I hadn't heard of this website, thanks for posting. I'll need to have a look at it tonight :)

I was - proudly - part of the team that created CFR, and as a recipe tester did both plans in their entirety. Lost weight on them, too - not because they are insufficient (quite the opposite), but because I normally eat too much of the wrong quite of stuff.

You are right in saying that it hasn't been updated for a while - the website owner is busy living real life at the moment - so the prices will be a little out of date; but once you get to grips with the principles, I am sure you could substitute products to get it very near to the original budget.

Glad you are enjoying recipes so far - long may it continue :)

    Hi all

I did a few of these recipes too. I was a larger during the process. There were many planners, cooks, testers, lurk ears, etc. it was a lovely warm thread to eavesdrop on. I loved it. If I recall, the OP was pregnant with her second child.

I very much look forward to hearing how you cope and what you think.

    I didn't spellcheck. Meant to say I was a lurker :-)

Sounds like it must have been a great thing to be involved with! It's inspired me to try to make a plan of my own after I've finished the veggie month. I've made plenty of meal plans too, but the detail here, especially with nutrition, is what I'd love to have a go at myself!

I remember the thread and often look at the website. Have tried a few of the recipes but since I've been on a diet plan I haven't had any of the recipes as most of them have things in them that I can't have.

I might have to change my eating again shortly (am waiting to see a consultant) so may have another look at it then.
