Will I lose my no claims bonus if claim not accepted/paid?

Options
Just short of 2 years ago my husband talked me into buying a very expensive Lazyboy leather lounge sofa and 2 x recliners.

The leather has started to 'wear' and someone came out and looked at it. They are saying that the 'wear' is caused by sweat! No one in the house has a sweating problem.

We had a leather sofa before for 12 years and never had a problem.

Anyhow much distressed that this sofa will be ruined before it is even paid for, have started to think that we might be able to claim under the accidential damage part of our home insurance?

If we put in a claim and it's not paid out, would this affect our no claims bonus? I understand that we will lose our no claims bonus if it is paid.

Thanks in advance

It would be highly unlikely to be covered by your Home Insurance which covers you for specific perils eg Accidental Damage but for specific events not for damage such as this that happened over a long time and sounds more like "Wear and Tear".

If you ring the Insurers they will not this as an incident on the claims database which other Insurers can access
