Metal black cat deterrent
Anybody using the above to deter cat from fouling the lawn. I bought a set of three which seem to work, the cat has not been for two weeks but I bought some solar lights to light the back garden. I was a bit disappointed as I thought the green eyes will show in the dark and put the cat off but they don't. During the day they will look quite real and sometimes make me jump. I am just wondering whether anybody has had any success with them. Thanks

Hi Loulou - I haven't used them myself but have seen them in gardens around here. They don't appear to have any impact on cats' behaviour as the neighbourhood cats continue to wander around, sometimes plonking themselves down by, or near the 'deterrent'.
I know what you mean about doing a double-take when you first see it, but assuming a cat were to do the same (and they also rely on smell for ID), once they realised it wasn't a real cat, they'd simply ignore it.
A neighbour down the road has a passive infra red gadget that detects movement at cat-height and emits a very high noise (outside human range)...it seems to be more effective.__________________________________

Thanks, I have got 2 ultra sonic as well. It did work at first now the cat goes behind it to avoid detection. The metal black cat seems to be ok for now but for how long. I do not mind them fouling the flower bed but not the lawn. It is annoying when you have a garden and the kids cannot goo out to play.0

None of the above have worked for long in my garden. The most effective was the flowerpot man I made out of old pots, hidden in the bushes attached to a string looped over a tree branch, going to the back door. When I spotted a cat, a sharp pull on the string made the flowerpot man leap up with a clatter and the cat beat a hasty retreat.0

I have a metal black cat, it was given as a "gift" the cat next door delights in digging it up when stuck in the ground.
The only way I have been able to stop the cat digging up the seed beds is to put strawberry netting on them0 -

The elderly in particular use a cat-deterrent in their garden. It is a
small apparatus with a speaker attached to it. It produces a
high-pitched bleep of more than a 100 decibel. The sound is mostly
only audible for children, youngsters and people with ears that are
still good. Many cat-deterrents use the same noise as the Mosquito.
The sound causes pain in the ears, headache, and ringing in the ears.
If you have any complaints consult your GP and make mention of it on
social media!
