Question on damp problem?

Hi there, I don't know if anyone is able to answer this question but here goes:-

I think we have a damp problem at the back of our house (2 bed mid terrace). I am querying how much the cost would be to put it right? I have googled it and it looks about £3k - would that be reasonable?

The house is currently on the market for sale and we are looking at reducing the price shortly but obviously I need to take this in account when deciding how much to reduce it by.

Many thanks

Impossible to answer without knowing the extent of the problem and it's cause. Are you referring to rising damp or penetrating damp?

Thanks Macman. I am not sure to be honest. I know when the men were laying our new kitchen floor and putting the white goods back, he made a comment about the back wall being damp.

In addition to that, I have noticed some black/grey small patches on my bedroom ceiling (the rear wall same as kitchen). I went up into the loft (my daughter's bedroom) and noticed black marks just below the eaves up there too. Again on the back wall.

Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Could be a number of things

    Slipped/broken tile
    Faulty flashing
    Blocked/damaged guttering.
    Or could even be condensation.
