Laptop with backlit/ illuminated keyboard.

General question - are there any reasonably priced laptops out there with this function or do you pay a premium for this?

  • You do pay a little extra and almost all computers I believe either have or can be upgraded to a backlit keyboard these days. I would suggest you email PC world or similar for their advice.

Why do you need a backlit keyboard if you don't mind me asking??
Why not go for a large screen tablet so the keyboard is on the screen ??
    Just a thought.

Anyone who types more than occasionally could answer that one.

Well good for you. I've been typing for 40 years or so and still like to see the keys.

Its good for hand positioning in the dark or low light, plus some keys you never really bother to memorise (symbols etc)

TBH both my laptop and desktop keyboards are backlit and I never remember I actually have this feature, so I'm not sure how really useful it is.. although mywork keyboard is blank (no inscriptions on any key) so that might be the reason I don't pay too much attention to the keyboard.

I had a laptop (a Lenovo T500) with a little light next to the camera at the top of the screen; it worked rather well.
