Hi Looby,She shouldnt need a note from her doctor about her holiday though - thats the point. She has already provided a cert which is enough to cover her period of absence. Any HR manager worth their salt will know that a holiday can aid recuperation. I know its hard but she needs to by-pass the manager now and deal with HR only. She was corteous enough to speak to her line manager in the first instance but given the response I wouldn't go back to them. Perhaps a phone call to save having to go back into store might be a start? Even if its to arrange an appointment.Getting a positive resolution is going to help her move forward also. Hope to hear some better news soon. Take care.

Thanks Boomdocker, I'll pass your advice on to her. This is all very new to her, she's never been on the sick in her entire life (she was given 2 weeks compassionate leave when her dad was dying) so doesn't know what exactly her rights are. I think a lot of the problem was shock at the way her manager spoke to her.
