Calls on BT Bill but never dialled.

Hi hope someone can help.My friends tearing her hair out with BT.2 numbers have appeared on her bill for calls she never made and wasn't even home at the time.BT have washed their hands of it saying she has but she knows she hasn't and she's worried this isn't last time it will happen.Numbers are 08702 416901 & 08702 416902. All repeatedly dialled 15 times :(
Has anyone else encountered this at all?

If you google the two numbers apparently it is quite common.
    Be happy...;)

She might not have been at home, but that doesn't mean no calls were made. The billing system has passed many compliance checks and you can be certain the line was used to make those calls. The trick is finding out who or how it was done. Someone with a key, an exposed external terminal block just outside mean fraudulent use, but that's not an issue for R&D Telco.

I'd get a line monitoring recorder that records everything audible on the line and check it to see what's happening when you return.
  • Has she got an alarm system that dials out ? The numbers in question are not voice lines they transmit data , which can occur in your absence.

Sky box calling home? However such calls are not chargeable. Have these calls actually been charged, or are they just appearing in the call records?

Went to http://www.ukphoneinfo.com/08702-code-allocations . It says 08702 41 comes under "BT Special Services higher rate: BT’s Standard National Call Retail Price for BT customers".

Don't know what all that means to be honest, but suspect BT do. Looks reasonably up to date info. As said earlier - if they haven't been charged for then it could just be a data check thingummy so no probs. If it's cost you, then needs investigating - BT should know what service is linked to those numbers.
