Use Interactive Whiteboard away from PC?

I have an IWB but don't really use it to its full potential. Partly because to use it I have to turn my back to learners and also because I can't reach it easily as there is a table in front of it holding the PC which can't be moved. Is there a cheap techie solution to remotely use it. I recently bought a clicker to use with ppt's which has helped but I really want to be able to write on it too. Many thanks.

Have you considered using a graphics tablet as an input? Something like this might work if you also have a screen in front of you.

As Shimrod says but I would look for a way to move things around as the cheaper alternative. Does your Smart Board have coloured styluses (stylii)? And as for turning your back on your students I'm afraid you sometimes have no choice.0

I don't know anything about interactive whiteboards, but... if you have a laptop you could use something like Remote Desktop or VNC to control the PC that you currently use.

Have a look at wireless remote keyboards with touchpads, then you can stand behind the kids facing the board, you only really need the arrow keys & spacebar to run a powerpoint and the play/pause keys for videos, if you want to doodle, the touchpad will work with practice, between £20 and £30.
EDIT something like this:-

Many thanks for replies. Can't move desk as it's in a lab with fixed benches. No way to sit behind table with laptop-no room. No monitor on IWB either. Not prepared to take my own laptop into work every day, will look at link thanks.0

It seems to be an idiotic position to have put an interactive board (not blaming you!). They are only mounted with a couple of brackets, so I would investigate getting it moved to a position where you can actually interact with it. This might cost little more than investing in a wireless keyboard or graphics tablet, and at least the board would then be fit for purpose.0
