Water stopped running in electric shower

Hi there, looking for a bit of info please.

Last night after about ten mins in shower the water stopped running. The power remained on just no water.

Tried it later on in night and worked again.

This morning in shower and same thing happened as last night.

Had the shower for about 5/6 years and stay in a soft water area.

Faulty solenoid, probably. When powered by the on switch, the solenoid opens up to let water through. Remove power, or have a faulty solenoid, and it closes. Solution is to replace solenoid, but most plumbers will tell you electric showers aren't repairable, and will prompt you to replace shower.

Do you have the DIY skills to isolate it from mains power and water, to disconnect it from power and water supplies, and open it up on a workbench to replace parts?

It could just as easily be the safety shut down as well !

If your shower has a filter in it and it has become slightly clogged then the flow could well be reduced, if you are using it on a high temp the boiler in the shower requires more water flow to stop it overheating, if the flow is restricted then it will overheat and the safety shut down will operate.

This can also happen if the mains water pressure is reduced either in house - if someone runs a cold water tap, or locally - burst mains pipe.
