Advice needed please

My DH is permanently disabled from a car accident. He currently receives EESA and and DLA high rate. I am in receipt of Carers allowance, although I have my own health problems.
Our 20 year old son (who live with us) has been offered work with a construction crew, but needs to be self employed. I am wondering whether this would affect my husband's benefits? Our son moved back home as he was unemployed, and now wants to save up for his own place.
Many thanks.

Your son is classed as a non dependent.

The only benefits it may affect is if you are receiving HB and CT support.

However, as your husband is on DLA there will be no non dependent deduction from HB and CT support if the claim is in your OH's name.

Are you on your husband's ESA claim?

    Many thanks.
no HB, but on CT support.
Claim is in DH's name. Not sure if IM on his ESa claim. Will that affect it then?
    Thanks.

I'm sure your son can save up for his own place while covering his responsibilities in keep money, including any benefit losses, at home.

Your son might want to check that he will indeed be "self employed"?
