advice needed please

Hi was just hoping somone could point me in the right direction as what I should do now.
long story short
been on ib since 1994 sent back form for transfer sept 2013
received today appointment for ftf assesment in april

unfortunately since december my mind has been on other major things going on in my life regarding my health an although I was aware I would probably be called in for an assesment ive had to put all this ib / esa tranfer process to the back of my mind. Unfortunately after many tests and anxious waits I have been diagnosed with breast cancer to say it has come as a shock is an under statement. I had surgery on monday and are now waiting results to see where or what happens next as far treatment etc goes.

the last thing I needed today was this letter dont think my mind is in the right place at the moment to be answering questions about my other health issues
what should I do ? Do I need to ring and tell them or should I have already have rung them like I say ive had a lot to deal with physically and emotionally
who do I ring if I should ring them and what do I say ???

Any advise however small will be much appreciated
thanks

Sorry to hear about everything you are going through.

What do you want to do? Postpone the meeting until you have further medical evidence?

Just call them and explain what has happened. Use the telephone number on the letter.
  • I have copies of all the letters from the hospital so far as they have been very good at giving and sending letters out should I be sending copies of these too. Will I still have to attend the interview im probably going to be having lots of medical appointments at the hopital etc

You can rearrange the appointment. They will give you another one.

Is it ATOS who is doing the assessment?

    If so telephone them.

if not, then you need to find out the contact details of whoever is conducting the interview.

More than likely yes you will, not being heartless, you have time to post on here, so somewhere along the line you have time or should make time for the interview, as an aside, we found out they evicted a family member (who has special needs) , so putting stuff off for whatever reason may not count.

While i totally appreciate the stress you must be under, maybe attending the ftf and 'getting it out of the way' maybe be less stressful to you in the long run.
There are some people that cancelled the appointments and rebooked only to find their money stopped and even claims closed due to 'not attending', or the next appointment letter has gone missing etc.

Sorry meant to also say....yes inform them as soon as possible of your additional health problems, if they still feel you need a ftf maybe request a home visit, that way you will be more comfortable and less distressing. You will need to get a letter from your GP to state that you are not fit enough to attend the assesment centre.
