applying for credit card after trust deed ends.

I finished my trust deed last year, I waited about 6 months then tried to get a credit card. I used the high interest ones as advertised but I was still knocked back. IT HAS been 6 years since I went into trust deed. Has anyone else had similar outcome in trying to rebuild credit history?

Have you had a look at your credit repot to check that anything negative has actually disappeared?

we looked at Equifax last year and it all seemed to be correct, I was thinking that maybe it would be because the 6 year anniversary isn't until this October.

    Hi,

I have finished my trust deed also, I had a lot of work to do to correct default dates and to show the accounts have been settled, still not there yet with all accounts but getting there. Until the accounts drop off your file which is normally exactly 6 years after you signed the trust deed or the default date on each account on your credit file, they can still affect your credit rating.

I have been writing letters to all companies and I have been doing this for the last 6 months but Experian have been very good and have had a few accounts updated, but it can be a lot of work.

I would suggest checking the default dates on the accounts on your file and make sure that they are correct as they will not drop off your file until exactly 6 years after the default date.

    Hope that helps :)
  • I have been trying to get an answer on this issue, does everything drop off file after 6 years automatically? we are both just over the 6 year term now. Myself with trust deed and my wife with her br?
It would be good to finally get back to a normal life.
