energy costs in a new build home
Options
Hi, please advise,
we are moving into a new build 2 bed house in August as part of the governments help to buy scheme, the advice i would like is: should we join a fixed rate til 2018 duel fuel direct debit for our gas and elec or should we wait and see what our fuel bills will be first as it could be reasonable because of it being a new build?

Well a fixed rate 2018 will be today's rates plus a pretty large premium . A 2015 lock in will be almost the same as today's prices for each year added to the fixed rate add a premium .
In other words 2016/17/18 are not at today's rates .0 -
The EPC should give you an idea of what to expect for bills.0

I suspect that the OP is under the impression that 'fixed rate' means a fixed payment regardless of usage?
It's the unit rate that is fixed. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
