what about get me a ticket?
If someone I don't particularly like asks or I get asked by a friend - for a friend of a friend of a friend who I don't know from adam, about where I go to enter comps I always direct them to getmeaticket and tell them I comp from there and win lots! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:April 2014: A CAR!!!!!! :j 60th Anniversary Edition of Playboy mag signed by Hugh Hefner/Family pass to Twinlakes Family Theme Park/Rio 2 Goodies/£15 Promod Voucher/Nivea Sensitive Prize pack/John Frieda Cosmetic bag and bits/Tickets to New Kids On The Block + Meet and Greet0 -
potential money making that already goes on
Interesting chat all the same0 -
might be reading the thread wrong or it seems to have gone off topic but
i don't get what it is of anyone's business who visits/uses whichever site for comping,
afaik quite a lot of mse'rs use lots of various sites including loquax/UKHD etc which, if they don't want to say they use them is their business,
everyone has thier own way of comping/reasons for visiting whichever site be it for new comps/comping buddies/checking answers on comps/keeping up with news on sites, etc
& surely it's no place for anyone to try to tell/keep plugging a site (be it this one or any other) to stick to the one,
just my humbles & am sure others will agree/disagree but at the end of the day i just think if peeps minded thier own comping business & not everyone else's the comping world would get back to how it used to be

The comping world will never be back how it used to be firefly... personally I blame social media comping for that!
I like a bit of discussion - some newbies ask questions because they genuinely have no clue and I'm sure they find it a help finding out habits of other compers in a bid to be successful, but you're right, its no business of anyones unless they want to advise - and where people comp etc should be meaningless to anyone else - theres no right and wrong imo!
who cares what site earns money and what site doesn't! WE are not paying anything to be here, only our electric and wifi - I don't know why anyone else gives a monkey if a site profits or not, if its not coming out the users personal pocket!
even if someone wants to sit on getmeaticket all day, leave them to it! lol:rotfl:

I'm sure some sites do 'exploit' their members by passing on email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, etc, for money. But that's different to a scam site. I actually have no problem with the sites that generate spam and / or make large profits, if they also provide the prizes: I just choose not to sign up with them because I don't want a tonne of spam clogging my inbox.
Personally, I think the benefit of having forums like LQ and MSE is that we can ask questions: fair enough, I should have asked my SWOOSH question before I signed up :wall: :rotfl: But nonetheless having extra sets of eyes look at comps as they're posted; a list of potential spam / scam artists; and the ability to share comps ourselves make these two sites that I use really great, in my humble opinion.0 -

I enjoy a discussion as well & it's always good in my humbles for newbies to ask & 'oldies' to help
it just seems to be wrong that a few peeps seem to be plugging quite a few times
'just stick to' (whichever site)
which I seem to take offence to as it's like plugging self promotion even though they have nothing to do with the running of the site but want others to do as they do,
the comping site/world is a big place now as you say & we should all be happily using dif sites to explore/keep in touch &
enjoying entering comps which we choose to

I agree with whats been said here,
as like 'forums' and members should do is discuss something from different point of views, and then let each member either not be swayed or like me 'have learn't more about the internet and websites (obviously in this instance its about our hobby 'comping')' so swayed.
So why not take a look around other sites if only to see the forums to see if you can learn more about our chosen hobby, which obviously in the long run as the saying going it doesnt hurt to

Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -

Is it really that much different now? I think social media has perhaps shone a big light on various things now - but you can go back to the days of uk.rec.competitions to see that there were all sorts of niggles then as well... folks running off to set up secret squirrel sites and what have you. Mind you it did seem more fun then
i wasn't saying wether it's that much different Jason,
yes, there were niggles & secret nests but we all had comping buddies from diff sites & all seemed to enjoy helping each other regardless of which sites etc we came from/entering &
yes it did seem more fun then,
I can't recall peeps posting on the sites we should 'stick' to one site &/or trying to sway newbies/others to
that was all I was trying to sayplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
For me the best era for comping was before the internet took hold.0
