CPP Claim Reject by HSBC

Hello
I would really appreciate some help. I took out HSBC Card Guard insurance in the late 90's and then cancelled the policy in late 2000's. After listening to Martin's weekly programme on 5 Live decide to claim for compensation and made two claims.
Pre 2005 with HSBC and post 2005 with the compensation scheme.
I contact HSBC who investigated my claim and rejected my claim, stating they had written to me a couple of years ago (generic letter).
I understand the next step is to raise the issue with the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Has any one else been rejected?
I would appreciate it is some one could spare 2 minutes to review what I had written to HSBC on their complaint form?

Hello
A further update ... I have received a payout from the CPP scheme (cheque in the post).
It seems odd that my claim can be rejected by HSBC but then approved by the CPP.0 -

Hi
I posted a similar thing a while ago -
"I've got a claim in with CPP for my HSBC Cardguard payments post 2005. After speaking to them, I found that I had had the policy since 1998 so have sent an identical complaint to HSBC requesting compensation for my premiums from 1998-2005. They sent me a questionnaire to complete (very similar to the CPP one) and I completed it giving the mis-selling of the fraud protection limits as my reason, exactly the same as the CPP one.
I've had a rejection letter from HSBC which is very waffly but basically seems to say that they didn't overstate the protections offered by Cardguard and that their literature was clear and transparent and they have said that they have either now removed or altered the parts of the cover which have found to be not needed by customers. They have also said that I would have had a 14 day cooling off period for the product when I purchased it, so should have been aware that I could have cancelled if I wasn't happy with it.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried claiming pre 2005 CPP payments from HSBC or any other bank and what success you've had. Is this just one of HSBC's fob-off letters in the hopes that I'll just leave it or is it something I should pursue? In my views, I'm not claiming that their literature overstated the benefits, I'm claiming that they knowingly sold me benefits that I didn't need as I was covered anyway and from what I can see, their letter doesn't cover this. Would it be worth going back to HSBC or should I just go straight to the Ombudsman? "
I've not done anything about it yet but I think I'm going to go back to HSBC rejecting their answers and asking again for compensation as their response to me didn't ever answer my claims and just appeared to try and fob me off. If I don't get any joy, I think I'll try the Ombudsman.
I've also had a cheque from CPP, so find it strange that HSBC would reject an identical claim.0 -

Hi I just got back after being away for some time and had the form - I was wondering what evidence people have attached & the success rate if there is no evidence?
I believe I had it as part of my Barclays Bank account fee as I remember reading it in a leaflet years ago. I no longer live at home & don't have access to/ or even have much of this documentation anymore.
Would it be worth sending off the claim form anyway? Any tips or advice gratefuly received.
Thanks
