Virgin Media Cloud - worth having?

As a Virgin customer, I'm being offered:-
"With Virgin Media Cloud, you get the first 5GB of storage free"
Then it says you can have more than 5GB if you pay them so much a month.
In practical terms, how much use is 5GB for creating backup of average size digital photos? Will I soon run out of space and have to start paying every month? Is it worth the trouble of setting it up if I don't want the extra expense eventually?

blank dvd costing 10p holds 4.7GB, and holds 1200+ 16mp jpg's
usb hard disks/flash drives/sd cards are inexpensive nowadays too. £40 is enough to backup a pc including all data!!

There are many companies that offer similar services. There is even an application you can get that seemlessly joins up a number of these services so on your computer it appears like you have one 25gig space rather than 5 spaces of 5gig each.
5GB would hold around 1,400 10mp photos
Personally, I just use an equiv solution to backup important photos/ documents offsite so that if there was a fire or such that burnt down everything kept in our home they would be safe online and recoverable.0 -
