Suppose it really depends what your budget is. My kitchen is costing £8000 and that is solid wood doors, a range cooker plus hood, integrated dishwasher and integrated fridge/freezer, led lights etc from wickes. Doesnt include the sink, tap, tiles, extra sockets etc. Can't comment on the fitting as my uncle, mum and father in law are fitting mine.
I bought in the sale though, day before it ended and they were literally throwing deals at us.0 -
I've seen adverts for companies who revamp kitchens by changing the surfaces, unit doors etc. Can't remember any name but may be an option if you don't want to pay for a whole new kitchen?0

I'm just in the process of planning a major kitchen revamp and I shall not be spending anything like £8K.
The work will include new electrics and full replastering, moving the boiler and replacing a window. Window already done £325.
I have now sourced everything and costed the project down to the last soft close hinge.
A total spend of no more than £4500.
I am changing the layout from an L-shape which wasted a lot of space to a U-Shape which will give the kitchen a much better working layout.
The layout I'm going for will be roughly 3000mm x 2400mm x 3000mm so that should give you an idea of size and costs.
The cabinets are ok so I am just going to replace the kitchen doors and worktops. I'm reusing the cabinets but replacing one base unit with a pan drawer unit. I shall reuse the sink and taps because they are fine.
I've sourced the replacement doors at B&Q. Replacement doors and a couple of additional cabinets, all handles, new plinths and cornices etc approx £1000. I've chosen cream high gloss.
Solid wood worktops - buying them online - 3 x 3000mm lengths, 40mm depth approx £450. Laminate ones would have come in at £300 so I felt it was worth paying more to get a more luxury finish.
A site called Appliances Online is well worth a look. I have found a cooker, hob and extractor hood, built in dishwasher, around £1K.
No tiles - going for a stainless steel splash back and stainless steel up stands. Cheaper, more modern and streamlined. Approx £100.
You can also get perspex or glass ones in a range of colours. They look really funky.
I will go to town on the lighting - under cupboards, LED ceiling lights and plinth lights.
I'm also using brushed stainless steel light and socket switches where there are visible (the ones that cannot be seen will be ordinary white plastic).
Am just awaiting my sparky to come back with a price for those.
There will be two final flourishes. One will be a large statement designer radiator in anthracite (dark grey). Awaiting price but I'm guessing around £150. The second will be an electric waste disposal unit £100.
I estimate that the materials used, new appliances etc to come in at around £3K. Electrics, plastering, flooring - somewhere between £1k to £1500.
You really don't need to spend huge amounts of money to make a kitchen look good.
In my last house I did a similar revamp, just replacing doors and worktops and lighting. That one only cost £700 because I didn't need any building work done and I didn't need new appliances.
Just take your time, plan it down to the last detail and shop around.0 -
Not quite sure how you can tell me that I've been ripped off when you don't know what I've bought, the size of my kitchen etc.
I'm happy with the price, don't see why anything else matters?
Find it hilarious that someone on this site told me I was cheap because I wouldnt pay 4k for 14 laminate doors but now I'm being ripped off when redoing my full kitchen...:rotfl:0
