MS Word 2010 question - protecting document format

Morning all,

I'v got a form I need to send to client in the form of a Word 2010 document which includes a table with boxes for clients to insert information into.

I want the rows and columns to be fixed as in only able to take a certain amount of information/letters in order to prevent the look of the table changing.

I've looked everywhere but can't figure out how to lock the table properties but still allow typing in the boxes.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks all
In deep...

From the Home tab click on the Styles group then click on manage styles and select the restrict tab.

This from memory so I'm paraphrasing.

Of course, unless you put a password on there's nothing to stop people removing the restriction but it does stop casual changes.

Google will give you more info and probably examples.

You should probably ignore the above.

Just realised that I have some third party add-ins and I'm not sure if the formatting restriction is part of those or not.

    Google is your best bet.

Your post #2 is valid for Word without addins (as far as I can see).

I've never used the Restrict tab before, so no idea how it works to achieve the OP's objective.

Turn on the developer toolbar in the ribbon and then add in fields. From the same toolbar you can select restrict editing and lock the document down so only the fields can be filled in.
