    Slightly worried.

when they rang me i got rude with them and sort of shouted at them, tell them you will not speak to them over the phone and any correspondence must be by letter, then put the phone down !!

  • speaking as some one who has been there now happy and clear dont talk to the dumbos just send a token payment or tell them to take you to court i found saying you aint giving them a penny and putting the phone down got a reaction , chitt chatt over the phone doesnt achieve anything unless you can pay them .they just do it to try and grind you down better still change your number .
TAKE CONTROLL THEY SEEM TO BE CALLING THE SHOTS AND TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO AND INVADEING YOUR PRIVACY.

well said, but i would not send any money till they send you a cca, if you make a payment you are admitting you owe them the debt and they may chase you more !!!

Dear Fallenangel and anyone else scared and in debt,

First of all, please try not to worry. The way these companies work is to frighten people and make you feel scared.
Unless they have a CCA they can NOT take you to court, they can NOT take your things and they DO NOT have the right to harrass you.
They WILL threaten and harrass but they have NO LAWFUL RIGHT TO DO THIS.

Do not send them any items pertaining to your outgoings and incomings UNLESS it is in your favour to do so.
Do not put your signature to anything you send them
They have no right to demand anything from you.

All the above is true by law.
If they DO NOT supply a CCA in the statutory time frame they then HAVE NO LAWFUL RIGHT TO PURSUE THE DEBT through the courts.

Never Admit the debt unless they have supplied you with a CCA

To anyone in debt and worrying themselves sick please, please look on the forums and get the true facts on what Debt Companies can and cannot legally do. Once you know the facts YOU will be empowered and YOU can take control of these lowlife scumbags who threaten and lie to you.

If you are reading this and need some support and help PM me and I will see what I can do to help you.

Please note, any advice and help given is gained from personal expererience only. I am not legally trained but I have taken on these companies and WON.

    great advice cc99,
  • Thanks for the advice everyone!

It's been over 12 days now (posted 2 weeks ago today) and no sign of them apart from one missed call which they never followed up.

The next step i suppose is to check my credit and make sure they haven't done anything...
  • Right then: Got a letter.

    "Dear Mr ***,

The legal department at AIC have reviewed your account. As you have failed to contact us or make a payment their intention is to consider commencing legal proceedings against you via your local County/Sheriff Court for full recovery of the outstanding balance.

To prevent this action and bring your account to a successful conclusion AIC are prepared to make an offer of settlement to you. To take advantage of this you must contact us immediately. This account will be reviewed again by the legal department within 5 days of postmark. If you choose to ignore this letter, the appropriate paperwork may be lodged with your County/Sheriff Court.

Please be advised that should any successful legal action take place, the relevant solicitors fees/court costs will be added and your credit status could be adversly affected."

What do i do? Ignore it? It's dated 5 days ago, so according to them the time is now up to contact them.
