I can watch Freeview Channel 20 on my TV.
But it does not appear on my DVD recorder.
I have done a re tune of the DVD recorder but it starts re tuning at Channel 21 !!
Anybody any ideas what the problem might be.
It's annoying because I want to record Channel 20.

The UK TV band goes from broadcast Channel 21 to Channel 68. Your DVD recorder is correct.
TV Channel 20 does not correspond to broadcast Channel 20. So there maybe a signal issue if you cannot see TV channel 20, Drama?. You don't give any details of the recorder but if it is connected by HDMI lead or any HDMI leads are near, try disconnecting the lead and retuning.0 -
After the retune, do you have BBC1 in TV channel 1, BBC2 in ch 2, etc, on the recorder?
What's the model number of the recorder?
Do you have the aerial lead connected to the RF in on the recorder, and an aerial lead from RF out on the recorder to the TV? If not, how do you have them connected?0 -
So how old is this DVD? If it's an old analogue model with no Freeview digital decoder inside, your only hope is if the Freeview TV outputs a signal for the channel you are viewing which can be fed to a signal In on the DVD if it too has such a capability. Even if possible, you will be constrained to only be able to record the channel you are tuned to on the TV.... I have two machines, both from the same aerial supply, one is a Freeview PVR, the other is a Sony Freeview DVD/HDD recorder. When I retune, the PVR often will pick up channels that the Sony will not, and sometimes vice-versa. It's often just down to the sensitivity of the tuner, and if I try to watch one of the channels that is only found on one device, it's quite blocky.
Also have a look at the device itself - my PVR is getting on a bit, and will only store 99 channels, though the 'retune' process finds more than that. So if I retune, I have to go through and delete all the junk channels, so that the box will remember the 99 I want, not the first 99 it finds. It was quite annoying before I discovered that - I'd retune, see it had found new channels, then they'd disappear the next time it came out of standby.0 -
Thanks for all the ideas I have a look & see if any of them sort the problem out.

Checked all the cables etc all OK.
Just done a re tune of the TV & the DVD recorder.
Then turned them both off & back on again & I am all sorted.
Thanks for the advice everybody.
Much appreciated.0
