O/S Daily Friday 21st March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good Morning TTFTM and all who follow, wet and grey looking here in Kent at the moment but as its been a lovely week I don't mind too much.My gardener came yesterday and trimmed the lawn and weeded the flower beds for me bless him and the garden is looking spic and span again.
History club this afternoon which I always enjoy, not too sure just yet what the subject will be though. We did Mary ,Queen of Scots last week and that was really interesting, she had such a sad life poor soul.
I may do some baking this mmorning for the DGS as their cake tins are looking a bit bare and DD really is pushed for time at the moment at work as she is covering short staffing problems.
MY DDs pa-in-law see his consultant this morning about his prostrate cancer and finds out what he can have done to help.He can't have an operation as he hasn't got a very healthy heart and he is 83 poor old chap.Such a shame as he is such a lovely guy.
My DGD Holly managed to get her school placement bursury yesterday and she is so pleased. It starts in September and she will be working as a student teacher for a year for basically peanuts but her Mum and I have come up with a plan to help her out.We have set up a 'Holly fund and we will both pay in a set amount every month to help her get through the year. She will get a small amount of money but it is very small so we are going to top it up for her.
She is overjoyed with life at the moment which is good as it will help her get through her Grandda's problems a bit.
I don't mind helping her at all as I know she is achieving her dream to become an infant teacher.
Well time for breakfast. Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.
    Cheers JackieO xxx

Good news for all the hospital appointments, we are all here thinking of you!
Hope the BD has taken a long walk for the sufferers.
Hugs to anyone in need, it's nearly the Easter holidays and I always think that is a turning point in the weather and my mood!
Builders didn't do anything on the roof yesterday as it was too wet and windy, they are making new cellar doors instead. I think the new front door will be going in today so that's progress. Some of the roof tiles arrived yesterday which is encouraging too.
Didn't bother with tea yesterday, had eaten too much rubbish all day. DD had a baked pot. Will get some mince out for tonight, maybe spag bol.
Started painting another piece of DDs furniture last night, hopefully I will get it done over the weekend along with DS2s room.
Have a good Friday, we have a Sport Relief day so can wear sports gear - I have the gear just don't do it!
    Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy, dull and overcast – wind has died down though.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, mash, and veg – all eaten and enjoyed and I managed to squeeze an extra portion that is now safely in the freezer.

Dinner tonight will be HM pizza, the topping will be ham and mushroom, I will serve this with southern fried/breaded chicken pieces, chips and salad. I’ll be having mushroom omelette and salad.

Was reasonably productive yesterday – tackled the ironing mountain, I think there’s now enough to make up another small load to put in the WM. Didn’t really do any amount of housework so should do that at some point today. I will be heading to town shortly, to visit the bank, and food shopping. Then hopefully home to run the hoover over and pack a small bag then try to do some baking for the weekend and coming week, next week DH and I are going away on Friday morning so I need to keep on top of everything as I “lose” 1 of my day’s off due to going away.

We have big car back, garage seem to have sorted the problem and MOT all done and passed, it still cost a lot of money but not as much as we were expecting. So we just have all the other bits now to worry about – my car’s MOT, insurance renewals for both cars and my car tax all before the end of April – we paid just for 6 months tax on the big car when we first got it as the tax on that was due at the same time – so now we’ve split that and it’s not due until October. I’ve already dealt with the home insurance and renewed that. The first 4 months of the year are always difficult but we’ll get there.

Managed to keep pottering about and kept busy yesterday so didn’t let mind wander and subsequently let my mood dip to the CBA mood that I struggle with.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,
Cat woke me up early again, so sitting down with a cuppa now. Wet at the moment though it's supposed to clear up later. Might do a charity shop recky today, haven't been on one in ages!:rotfl:

OH will be here this evening, he's had a rotten week with things going wrong with his business, so I think steak is in order!

DD and family came over for dinner last night. Did beef casserole and "obese":rotfl:baby loved his with mash and green beans. Then he had peach crumble and custard! At least he's eating "proper" food. B****y health visitors. DD says she's not coming in the house again.:T

Bit of DIY needed this weekend now I've solved the window damp. OH is on painting duty to fix the damp patches.:rotfl:

(((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need them, include my cousin in that as it's the third anniversary of her DH's death.

    Have a good day.

    Morning to all :hello:
The sun is shining here, not sure about the temp though as not ventured out the door yet. Will be getting some washing in and on the line and also putting the little veg seedlings out starting to acclimatize them to the outdoors. Have some more paperwork today but hoping to be done around dinner so I can go for a run and do some housework.
Judi - It happened, 'balls' begun appearing on my facebook the past couple of nights :rotfl: luckily a lot more bare faced ladies with proof of their donations to cancer research.

I did give in and post a bare faced picture & made a £15 donation, but I decided it was all for a good cause very close to everyone.
Last night we had stew with dumplings for tea which was yummy :) Me and my boyfriend then watched 'Beyond Breaking Point - Davina's mccalls sport relief challange'. Well, we were both so pulled in and didn't move for the hour!! We laughed, I cried and then we donated. Don't know if anyone else caught the programme? I have her workout DVD's and she is fab in them but she is just a machine and such an inspiration.
Beef burgers for tea tonight, not had them for a long time & we will be watching Sport Relief also, looking forward to the Only Fools & Horses special.
jackieo - Lovely that your able to help your GD out, best of luck for her year placement :) I know when my GP's helped me it was such a blessing
hilstep2000 - Stupid health visitors!!! Our friends had their health visitor being over critical & in the wrong and she got very upset, especially being a first time mum & lacking sleep. I told her to tell the women to stuff & she was doing a wonderful job being a mum. Some of them are such (a word I am too nice to say)!!

Well time to empty the dishwasher, put a load of washing in, take the OH's car to be tracked up (I kerbed it :o) whilst avoiding a lorry & a car so I said I would take it to be re-tracked as it knocked it out. He said he would pay - it's only £10, but I refused to take any pennies from him.

I hope the weather comes beautiful with you if it isn't already. Have a wonderful day.
    Happy Friday :j
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

    Hi everyone,

I started a post yesterday and didn't finish because the window cleaner turned up and I was still in my dressing gown, so I decamped rather hurriedly to get dressed.

I then cleaned all the windows inside, which made me want to go out and do the outside again, but I resisted. I might go round the downstairs ones, I can't reach upstairs. Does anyone have a window cleaner that gets the windows really clean?

I'm going to get dressed now to go swimming again, I've decided to go three times a week. We have a joint gym membership and DH makes full use, going to around 6 classes a week but I had lapsed so I must make myself go again.

    Have a good day.

Another hospital attender here today. Me. Ive got to have my boobs messed with as I'm having a mammogram at 4.30. I hope its a woman doing it and if not I hope its a very good looking man.:D
Seriously? Do they actually have blokes doing the mammograms??:eek::eek::eek::eek: Best of luck, btw, I hope it's not too stressful.

Just a quick post from me - after thinking I was dogless til 27th March, got a call last night - could I please have Spencer for 2 nights, arriving 08:30 this morning.:D It's his first time out, this is a trial stay, so I have to make some notes for the franchisee. Spencer is a 6 month old Miniature Schnauzer. So far no problems; he's currently spark out on the mat by the patio door, having belted round the garden like a mad thing for 10 minutes.:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Afternoon all,

Well it's been quite pleasant here weather wise today after a very wet start. Got a line of washing dry, been to work twice, popped to the outlet centre to get DS2 some thick socks for the impending trip and been to Asda to collect the photo cake for DD's engagement tomorrow.

Feeling a bit rubbish today as my Trapezius muscle is playing up and it makes my head hurt :(

Pizza and potato salad for tea tonight.

    Happy Friday everyone.
  • Afternoon all.

You'll be just about going for your mammogram right now Judi. Hope it's ok xxxx

Today I've had a coffee morning with the local charity for autism that I'm a member of. Had a good natter. Everyone has to fight for everything. It's dreadful really.

Saw my youngest sons teacher & the Senco this afternoon. Just really to gauge how they feel about him going to a special needs school. Anyway, they're in full support, sit hats good.

Not been very OS today. I had fish & chips from the chop shop for lunch today. And I've not done any housework or anything.

    Hope everyone is ok

    Love, hugs & spoons xxx
