choccomoose... (apologies I don't know how to quote)

Can i ask what speech to text software your child uses, and how he coped with learning it. I looked into the dragon software, and some others, but on the reviews and on discussion with vendors, users needed training for voice recognition in order to utilise. The training was a)costly, b)time consuming

By that time my son was sitting his exams and I felt it would have been too much for him to cope with on top of learning the modification tools he used to assist him in his exams, (audio, computer, extra time) but it would be useful for the future.

    thanks in advance.

Hi not 100 pecent sure but dragon dictator rings a bell, its on an ipad, two children in his class can use it, they hit problems with it recognising one childs voice and then getting confused when the other child used it. They had some support from a uni student who is doing a degree in ict and education and have over come the issue. The student is a friend of mine. I will check with the teacher tomorrow what software it is and my friend with how they overcame the problem and come back to you. I know they have to put inthat when he says lello ( still has slight speech impediment) it needs to type yellow and other odities like that.
Hes only year 4 so lots of work going into support his handwriting but this option is available if necessary. For display work etc. He uses a head set too.
