Insurance, Houses built MMC.

Options
Houses built MMC, methods of modern construction. We are aware that the Insurance industry is a dinosaur, it would be wonderful if it came into the 21st Century it would help if it made it into the 20th.

My house built 2 years ago is an Eco house using MMC, that is timber frame and in my case externally clad with calcium silicate board and lightweight polymer waterproof render. A lot of houses are now built thus and they have advantages over standard brick construction in air and water tightness.
However the Insurance industry insists on classifying them as being of " non standard construction" although the method is fully approved by BRS Garston. You are therefore directed to their Specialist Insurance branch which basically means you are charged double for half the cover, also when seeking a quote they refer to their script which goes thus:-
Is the house built with brick external cladding ? No. Wood ? No. Corrugated Iron ? No. Wattle and Daub ?. No .
This goes on through 30 or so options none of which cover the actual construction I have explained to them and often terminates in the operator sticking down the dearest option ( bearing in mind they have already told you to be completely honest in your replies or you might negate your policy cover).
Anyone else had this problem and if so have you uncovered an insurer who knows his trade and can give sensible cover ?

How do your own thousands of items of data compare against the prospective insurer?

There is a reason many insurers don't like MMC Eco houses and it's not just because they are dinosaurs.
