Redbridge Connaught Road PCN

Hi,
First time poster here, but I have read through some of these case studies and looks like you guys know your stuff.
Anyway to cut a long story short I parked on one end of connaught road in Ilford and went to buy a ticket. The only machine was located a couple of minutes walk from where I parked. I spent maybe a minute or two fiddling with the machine giving it the right change and came straight back to see a warden taking photos of my car. I told him to stop as I was just at the machine whereupon he said he couldn't see me to which I replied he needs better glasses seeing as though I'm not a small guy. I showed him the ticket but he said he has already put it in the system and he can not remove it and so I have to take it to his office. I was busy at the time so I could not go.
He did not issue me with a yellow marked PCN. So I forgot about it until this morning when I received the notice to owner.
I still have the parking meter ticket but I am worried that the expiry time is 17:57 and the ticket issued was at 16:02 and I only paid £2.70 so I checked it on the Redbridge parking and enforcement plan that would be only an hour forty so it kind of looks like I bought it after I talked with him when I am sure I spoke to him at dead on 16:00 so I got the ticket before it even was logged on the system.
Only thing I can think of is the meter machine gave me extra minutes or its clock is fast.
I am really just asking from what angle I should appeal this PCN.
Thanks
for the tl:dr version.
I parked went to machine came back to see warden tapping away.
I did not receive yellow PCN. Still have my meter ticket although I am worried about the time of it.

Well there is only an expiry time of 17:57 on the receipt. To be honest there is no observed time on the website but only the time taken of the photos of which the earliest is 15:56.0
