Refund from Sports Direct

OK, I am after some advice on where to go with this one!
I ordered a pair of fishing boots from Sports Direct on 27/01/14, this was a pre-order and they would be dispatched on 24/02/14. On the 21/02/14 I received an email telling me that the boots would now not be dispatched till 24/03/14. After a few emails to Customer Services, I cancelled the order on 24/02/14 and received an email confirming the cancellation and that my money would be refunded in 1-5 working days. Due to a situation at home I only got to check yesterday to see if it had been refunded, to my shock it had not! I emailed Sports Direct and had a reply stating "As with the majority of online retailers, once your have entered your payment details your bank will place an authorisation against that full order amount in your account. This will show as a pending amount on your statement, but will not actually be taken by us.

As soon as your order was cancelled we automatically sent information to your bank to ask them to release any outstanding authorisation. Depending on an individuals bank this process takes between 1-5 working days.
Please not that this will not show as an income transaction in your account
". I then called my bank as it showed up on my statement as a debit, the bank confirmed that the money had indeed been paid to Sports Direct on the 27/01/14. What I need to know is where do I go from here? I have told them that I will take them to the small claims court to recover this money if so required. I am sick and tired of these people, I only got replies to my emails once I threatened cancellation of my order, even sending an email complaining to the CEO has not had a reply! Many thanks in advance for any help that can be given

  • Thanks for the advice Molerat! Have just got off the phone with the bank and they will investigate, the worrying thing is that according to them that the transaction was done in the shop and not online, hence it would appear as to that is why the money has been paid. Will keep the post updated with any further news as and when. :j
