Sorry but we're Heinz fans here. They're much better when boiled on the hob not nuked, if you nuke them that's when they get watery.

My DH and I have never liked Heinz baked beans and we are not keen on the Branston ones either. We would recommend the Tesco own brand ones (not the basic range) which are currently 6 x 420g tins for £1.95. They are the only thing that we insist on getting from Tesco.
Yep, these are my favourites too. Lovely sweet sauce! And, as you rightly point out, the 6-pack is a bargain! I also only really go to Tesco for these, do the vast majority of my shopping in Aldi. Their beans are okay but I'll pop to the local Tesco for the beans and any genuinely good Savvy Buys they have on offer.0 -
We are not keen on Branston. OH was a stickler for Heinz, but one day I got Asda's own and he didn't notice the difference. I told him afterwards and now he's a convert. Saves me money too!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
We've always been Heinz beans eaters but as with lots of things we've tried down shifting. We tried lots of different ones but never really happy with any until I tried Sainsbury's basic beans (and their basic spaghetti too).
They are a little bit different to Heinz beans but I can't quite put my finger on why - I think it could be that the sauce is not as salty (haven't compared the salt content though). The taste as well as the price of them means I am really pleased with them.0 -

Salt (g) per 100g of product
Heinz 0.6
Sainsbury's Basics 0.50
Branston 0.8
Sainsbury's (regular) 0.75 (which might be rounded up to 0.8, same as Branston)0 -

I'm talking about before cooking. Not a mircowave fan so never cook them this way.
I'm going to try out a few. Have sent off my complaint to Heinz so will see what happens there.0 -
Also anyone recommend a better baked bean buy for taste and price?
I see Branston's are half price in Lidl today and tomorrow. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Heinz are bland. Branston have a horrid sauce taste.
Lidl's are by the best and have a lovely rich sweet taste. 4 x £1.PK! :money:0 -
I cant believe anybody actually eats baked beans, they are absolutley disguisting.0

Thank you for your very valuable and relevant contribution.
I'm no baked-bean aficionado but the four cans for a quid in Lidl are perfectly acceptable. I can't remember the last time I had the Heinz ones but they seem very similar to me.0
