I'm been a buyer of Heinz baked beans for yonks always prefering them to others I'd tried. However I think over the last little while the quality has got poor, mushy beans and less beans and tons of juice. Anyone else find the same or just me?
Also anyone recommend a better baked bean buy for taste and price?
Thanks

Branston.
One of the half price offers this weekend at Lidl - 4 *410g for 94p
Got to be worth a try at this price even if you find you dont like them..0 -
Another vote for Branston. Like you, I've found that Heinz beans have really gone downhill with a lot less beans and loads of watery juice. Yuk.0

Branston here too....also Aldis own brand are good.0

Branston for me too! I wouldn't touch any other bean but Heinz for as long as I can remember but, once I tasted the Branston ones, there was no going back!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

If you buy the multipacks of beans then don't expect the best quality beans as they use batches that don't measure up to their standard for single tins. They use up second rate batches for them so they don't have to waste them.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Homemade is the best in my opinion, once I tried these I wont go back!

Sorry, I don't believe a word of that. No company would risk its reputation with such a stupid policy.0 -
Branson and HP when you can get them, far nicer than heinz0

Are you saying that an inferior product is used in the same packaging? If so surely that would be contrary to Trading Standards or Trades Descriptions Act or something like that, as well as being simply misleading. If that is the case - I wonder where you are getting your info from? - I would definitely contact Heinz to take it up with them. I am going to make a complaint in any case as I think they should be aware that customers are finding a poorer product than in the past with same packaging.
Thanks for the Branston suggestion I will give those a trial as I see they are on offer as well at Lidl. Have never seen HP beans I don't think, not that I have been looking but will try those also.
Homemade is best of course, but not always practical for a quick meal. I will try that recipe you linked as it is slightly different from my own and looks good.

My DH and I have never liked Heinz baked beans and we are not keen on the Branston ones either. We would recommend the Tesco own brand ones (not the basic range) which are currently 6 x 420g tins for £1.95. They are the only thing that we insist on getting from Tesco.0
