Cheap Asda 6 person tent

Hi all
I recently bought a 6 person, two room tent from Asda for £40.
However, given all the rain we've been getting recently, I'm starting to worry whether it is going to be waterproof enough...
I have another week that I can return it in, so was wondering if any of you have used this tent, and can tell me if it's any good? (After all, a bargain's not a bargain if it doesn't do it's job
Cheers!

The fabric will almost certainly be waterproof but have a look at the seams to see if they are sealed with tape, most are now, if its going to leak it will be here. Go for a sheltered spot out of the wind, you don't want to be chasing your tent in middle of the night!!0

Try it out in your own garden before you go0

Thanks for all your replies!
I checked out the tent last night, it has two inner tents, and taped seams - so I'm going to risk it!:money: I heart Martin! :money:0 -
Tents have a waterproof rating - and this will tell you what type of weather they should stand up to normally they symbol is a H with a rain drop and another H and then a mm measurement underneath. - i.e suitable for showers....
There is loads of discussion about this on this web site thread (hope i am allowed to put this in):-

Someone posted this on there - and others seem to agree so think it woudl be a good benchmark:-
1500 is recommended for the UK.
2000 is a safe bet, for all but extreme weather.

Most tents always say you can put something on them to make them more reliable in the wet.
But they are supposed to be MADE for the weather in all types of weather.
However i bought a RAGE 8 person tent which was huge! i went to lake ullswater booked a lovely lake view field... and the the worst happened... the tent did not take to the wind very well high up in the hills, nor did it stop the rain from coming in underneath - always check your tent goes to the bottom of the poles ( i am looking for a sewn in ground sheet now - that will make sure the tent is sealed from top to bottom). anyways - we had to leave a day early as the wardens on site helped us almost all night trying to keep the tent down clining onto the poles for hours.i sent it back and got a full refund thank god - i really did like the tent thou - but i wasnt going to exchange it incase it wasnt just a badly made one off.Thank youLiz x0 -
There is something else to be taken into consideration. The first time most tents are used, the seams leak! They are meant to, as then then swell up and seal the holes. So, if you can, put it up in the garden, and let it get wet!0
