PPI reclaim Rejection Period

Options
Hi,

Please can anyone advise what I should do next as my claim was rejected by the bank just over a year ago, which rules out contacting the Ombudsman at this stage!!??

Do I contact the bank again with a further claim? Or can I go straight to the Ombudsman?

Regards

Ash

Since you can complain only once and you have only six months to progress your complaint to FOS, you cannot do either I'm afraid.
    Your complaint is over.

Why have you waited a year when you knew full well that you only had six months?

Its game over for you. As mentioned above, you get 6 months to refer your complaint to the FOS if you disagree with the bank's decision. After which, the bank can bar you from using the FOS.

The exception is if you have very good reasons for not pursuing it within the whole of the period you have waited (typical examples are incapacity or direct family member bereavement) or if you have significant new evidence which would likely change the outcome that was not available at that time of the original complaint.

Unfortunately I was unaware that I had a 6 month period to bring this to the attention of the Ombudsman.

Was mega busy and totally forgot to be honest.

Thank you very much for the speedy response(s).

This is detailed in your rejection letter, so forgetting about it is not a reason FOS will accept I'm afraid.
What reason did the Bank give for rejecting your complaint?

Their response was that it was not a valid claim. I pointed out that I was never notified I had PPI and it was never discussed with me.

Apparently I still had a valid claim based on this but unfortunately for me I dragged my heels and it's too late!

That would only have been valid if you could have proved it.
