O/S Daily Thurssday 20th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

It's still dark but there is a blackbird singing his little heart out and it is lovely to hear.

Late night tonight as DH has an open night at college so I am staying in work to get some urgent stuff finished. No dinner to organise so have salads and cold omelettes to take with us.

Current ambition is to see debt below £27,000 by the end of this month so am working on my spreadsheet to see what can be done. Watch this space ......

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all
Happy Oestra everyone, LW, enjoy your day
Hugs to Molly, Hilly & Snoozer.
I've dropped hubby at work & popped back to rotate DD's washing, her rotary line snapped & her tumblers on the blink, so I have had her washing on my line & maidens all week, I'm collecting & returning a couple of bags a day.
Last night I took DGD to science club & collected him an hour later, made a couple more taggies, made a dozen cherry muffins, made roast pork for tea, took up curtains for my other DD. I think I overdid it a bit, so tonight I'm planning a lazy evening & an early night.
Time I set off for work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, light cloud with sun peeking through now and then, blustery too, so have put washing on line.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was spag bol, it was one of my better efforts and tasted delicious, I also managed to get an extra portion of the bol sauce, so that’s now in the freezer. I also remembered to get the meat out to defrost – so that will be going in to the slow cooker shortly – I have to take the big car to the garage first thing – so when I get back I will get that done, so it can cook steadily all day, I will serve mash, dumplings and veg with it – hopefully I will be able to get an extra portion from that to put in the freezer too.

Had a bit of good luck last night again on the on-line gaming won some money with no outlay to myself, so waiting for that to hit the bank account over the next few days. I’m still awaiting the refund from the gym membership because I paid a years membership by cc then the company ceased trading 2 weeks later – I’ve been told I will be getting it, but still have not received it! I will be giving them until the beginning of next week then I will be on the phone again chasing them.

Today will be a day of the chores, washing, drying and ironing. Need to get the housework done too. I have a nails appt this morning so will get going with everything once I get home from having that. I will pack a small bag for myself, DH and DS2 as we’re going away just for 1 night in the caravan – looking forward to it although the weather doesn’t great – it will be good to get away though, as we have been away but not in the caravan for a while, the few little jobs we needed doing have been done, and I went and paid yesterday after work so we’re ready to go away.
Slept much better again last night, the keeping busy is definitely helping keeping the CBA mood away – although work has been busy all this week, so not had chance to think about things – I’m on days off now so this is the difficult time – as I spend quite a lot of time on my own – trying to get stuff done and my mind can wander. But do actually feel quite settled and calm at the moment so hoping this may continue.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning :hello:

JackieO Fab news :T I'm really pleased for you :j

The car passed it's MOT :T We've bartered with the garage owner in the past, he reckons he owes us so didn't charge for the test :D

Our tomatoes have shot up, I don't want to plant them in the greenhouse just yet but I had to do something with them. They were too heavy to support themselves, so I repotted them and tied them to little canes. They look so funny – mini plants with mini canes in mini pots :D

It's quite windy here, the washing will dry quickly. Weeds have grown around the onions on the veg patch – how very dare they – so I'll sort that out this morning then do a bit of housework. I haven't done as much crochet as I'd like so I'll plonk myself on the sofa this afternoon and get on with my two blankets.

Happy Ostara to all those who celebrate http://pagancalendar.co.uk - especially LW and Hester xx

Ok we have sold parent's property and they have somewhere to go to if all offers are accepted ! The bottom of the chain is a flat in Battersea so really hope that sells and the chain completes. Your vibes must have worked but please let them continue. What a difficult situation:eek::eek::eek:

So A FULL NIGHT'S SLEEP last night. I was very weepy yesterday and my darling daughter came home to help out and cheer me up - and so she did:A As did DS2:A Now Molly dog has been waking us up and the night before was terrible but DD home and she settled immediately. So we know she misses her - but how to manage it? DD has to go home today and will be at home less as she has secured a job at her local Ikea :T Dreading tonight already:(

Got to get a tighter grip on money as CCards are mounting up. So frustrating that Im not up to batch cooking of pasta meals etc and I resent paying for them - plus they not good for you :(

Anyway - love and hugs for for a good day xx

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Molly, this might sound daft, but would Molly-dog settle with a t-shirt or pillowcase of your DD's to snuggle with?

    Congratulations to Jackie:T:T:T
I do know how it feels to achieve an operation that will make all the difference in the world, as my neuro stimulators have finally been agreed for funding (3 years on) and I am on the waiting list. They will make a huge difference to my quality of life as hopefully will control pain. I have to have another neuro op in London on 6th April (which Im dreading and not thinking about):eek::eek:

Anyway a ramble but well done Jackiex

Oh yes and it works to some degree but then she still knows her friend is not there and wanders around pitifully. I have been putting her on DD's stinky bed and settles but bed has to be changed at some point. We will get there - the vet is being incredibly helpful.

When my kids were babes and their Dad was away working, I used to let them sleep with his dressing gown, and it helped settle them immediately :)
