Hi,
im writing on behalf of my stepson . hes been working for 7 years in a small computer shop and has been getting working tax credits.About 2 years ago his boss stopped giving him payslips and payed cash in hand and because of the lack of payslips his credit was stopped and has been told he has to pay back £2400,he has often asked for payslips but his boss just makes excuses as to not give them.He has been told to pay £66 a month but he is on a low wage and will struggle to do so.Can anyone give us some advice please

Sounds like he is being cheated, prob means no NI has been deducted either.0 -
if he has been getting cash in hand then he is lucky that that the Inland Revenue are only asking for their tax credits back. They could easily go after him for unpaid income tax(one of the main reasons people get paid cash in hand)0

He really needs to contact his local tax office and find out if the boss has been paying his tax and national insurance. I don't suppose this boss ever gave him a contract ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
With no payslips (which is illegal if in genuine employment) there is not a lot you can do as your pay could be anything. Most likely that no tax or NI has been paid so contact the Tax Office to see what has been going on0

he got the job through Shaw Trust the government project, and apparently his boss gets financial assistance from the government.
