Warning Re: Multi Car Insurance.

A quick warning with regards multi car insurance and NCD.
We have had multi car insurance for 3 years, the latest renewal was way above what I expected, so did a comparison and swapped.
The problem now is my partner can not use the NCD he has built up even though they state that each driver earns there own NCD.
All documents are in my name so other insurance company's will not except them.

so i am assuming this is the scenario

you have 2 cars car A and car B

if you are main driver for both cars then they are correct you have 2 sets of NCB

if you are main driver for 1 car and your partner for other then they are incorrect in which case you both have X number of NCB each

you can usually only use the 2nd driver (as in named driver on the policy) NCB in same company

It sounds like you have misunderstood things in the first place.

Named driver NCD is only useable with the company giving them.

I am main driver of my car my partner is named driver, my partner is main driver of his car I am named driver, the problem occurs because my name is on all documents, other insurance companies won't except them, even though it states quite clearly he is the main driver of his car, that I am a named driver and I can't use his car for travel to and from work. And the same for him on my car.

He is the main driver of his car, I am the named driver hence I can't use his car for travel to and from work, the same for him with regards my car. They even provide proof of NCD for both of us, the problem is the my name is at the top of his letter.

Thanks for clarifying that.....it wasn't clear in the original post.

Which insurer is it , I didn't have any problems after leaving Admiral and Aviva, can't remember who I went to after them though.

Admiral. Still getting no where with them, I phone them explain the situation, I think its sorted and they agree to send the correct document but every time they send details for my car with my partner as named driver. They have now sent the same document three times.

I change every year so have left Admiral twice and never had problems going elsewhere, I think they must have changed their paperwork in the last few years because the NCD proof's they provided for each of us was accepted elsewhere without any need to send any other paperwork/letter.

Having said that I did have other issues with them that means I will never return to them again.
